Summer 2017 Activities

Determining and implementing a well thought out schedule can be tedious and immensely time-consuming, no matter if you’re the Family Assistant or Nanny. Over the years we’ve seen it all, the activities families favor to the not so favorable past-times. We’ve compiled a list of suggestions for a vastly successful Summer ’17. Pack a picnic & watch a polo match at Will Rogers Polo Club

Will Rogers Polo Club is the only polo field in Los Angeles County and holds matches every weekend from April through October. While the club does charge an admission fee, admission gives you access to the trails on its 186 acres as well as admission to the ranch house, a film on Will Roger’s life, and an audio tour of the grounds: the two-mile (three-kilometer) loop trail to Inspiration Point is particularly popular, and a nature trail and longer hikes are available – check with the ranger. Visit the Kidspace Children’s Museum

The Kidspace Children’s Museum is located in Pasadena and boasts several interactive exhibits. Prepare to get messy with water, mud, and sand exhibits! The Zimmer Children’s Museum also hosts a variety of classes for kids up to eight years old. Every Wednesday visitors two and under and their caregivers have the museum to themselves during VIB hour! Prefer visiting museums for free?

Spend a day outdoors at Tongva Park

Tongva Park has a unique playground that kids of all ages can enjoy. The park also features a splash pad to cool down during hot summer days

Skate the morning away at Moonlight Rollerway during their special kid’s only hours

Moonlight Rollerway first opened in 1956 and has grown to be a Los Angeles icon. The rink also offers classes for skaters of all ages and levels. Admission fees begin at $8.00 and Skate Rental at $5

Hear a story during the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s storytime

Hear a different story every week in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s galleries. After, you can walk around and visit the various galleries and exhibits. Admission is free to LA County residents

Take a day to relax at the Annenberg Community Beach House

The Annenberg Community Beach House is located in Santa Monica and offers a variety of activities for visitors of all ages. Spend time playing in the game room, making a craft, or taking a fitness class

Journey around Echo Park Lake on a paddle boat

Echo Park Lake is located just off the 101. Visitors to the park can rent a paddleboat ($10/per adult and $ 5 per child. and explore the lake). A picnic under the trees before or after is ideal

Explore the Bat Caves in Griffith Park

The Bat Caves do not house actual bats, the name was coined after being a filming location for the original Batman movies. The caves are a short kid-friendly hike away from the parking lot and offer a view of the Hollywood sign

Make your Western movie at Paramount Ranch

Paramount Ranch is a western movie set open to the public daily. Visitors are allowed to explore the ranch and the hiking trails that surround it even when the sets are in use. Some shows and movies that have been filmed here are: Westworld, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, and Flintstones’ Viva Rock Vegas

Learn about the great outdoors at Star Eco Station

The Star Eco Station allows visitors to view exotic wildlife while learning about the environment. Tours are offered every weekend

See a film at one of Los Angeles’ Drive-in Theaters

Grab some blankets and pillows and enjoy a movie from your car at one of five drive-in theaters in Los Angeles
